Best Australian Universities Under 50 Years Old (Times)
The top 100 world universities under 50 years old as ranked by Times Higher Education has been developed with the rationale that the main ranking system is skewed towards older, more well established universities because of the weight giving to reputation, research, and citations, features which become more significant in direct relationship to the length of a university’s existence.
The ‘Under 50 Years’ ranking uses the same basic indicators as the Times main ranking system, but re-calibrates them to reflect the distinctive features of younger universities. Most notable amongst the re-calibrated indicators is less emphasis giving to the subjective measurement of academic reputation. The result is presented by the Times as a list of universities which are performing well at what they do, but perhaps do not have the global recognition and reputation that can come with being an older university.
